The Visitors’ Center

Welcome. Come in.

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.”Psalm 122:1, KJV

If this is your first visit, start here. This page explains who we are, how to walk the museum, what our name means, and how to reach the fellowship behind it.

Welcome

Who we are, in one breath

Baptist Militia is a library and museum of the Whole Armour of God (Ephesians 6:10–18), seen from the Baptist perspective and read in the King James Bible. Every verse is quoted word for word and linked so that you can check it. Every claim about history carries a source, and every picture shows its credit and licence.

The museum is open to everyone. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to sign up for. Walk the halls in any order you like. If you would like a path, here is one.

A Suggested Walk

Seven stops, from the passage to the people who kept it

The halls build on one another. Start with the words of Ephesians 6, then see each piece of the armour opened, then the Book itself and how it came to us.

  1. The Entrance

Begin with the passage itself. Ephesians 6:10–18 is set out in the King James text, and the seven pieces of the armour are hung in their cases.

    Go to the Entrance

  2. The Armoury

Each piece of the Whole Armour of God, expounded in the words of John Gill, C. H. Spurgeon or John Bunyan, set beside the early witness of John Chrysostom, with verbatim King James cross-references.

    Enter the Armoury

  3. The Gallery

Licensed plates from the world’s museums and libraries in four rooms: the Book preserved, the Text received, the armour Paul named, and the Baptist witness.

    Enter the Gallery

  4. The Timeline

How the Scriptures were kept and carried into English, and the Baptist witness through history, from the canon to the missionary age. Every entry cites its source.

  5. The Bible Catalogue

All sixty-six books of the King James canon, Genesis to Revelation, each introduced by its opening verse.

    Enter the Catalogue

  6. The Reading Room

Every source, citation, Scripture reference and image licence in the museum, gathered in one bibliography, so that every word can be tested.

  7. What We Believe

Our name, and what we hold: the Bible alone, the King James Version, and six Baptist convictions, each set beside its Scripture.

The Name

Why “Militia”?

Because the Apostle Paul calls the Christian a soldier, and tells him exactly what kind of war he is in.

  • For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

    Ephesians 6:12, KJV

  • Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

    2 Timothy 2:3, KJV

Stated plainly: the warfare is spiritual. The enemy is sin and the powers of darkness, never a neighbour. This museum has no connection with any armed, physical, or political militia, and it calls no one to violence. The only weapons it commends are the ones Ephesians 6 names: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. More on our name and what we hold.

The Fellowship

Behind the museum is a fellowship of believers who pray and serve together. Its members’ area is private and by invitation only. It runs as its own application with its own records, nothing written there appears on these public pages, and search engines are asked not to index it.

You may still write to the fellowship without an account. If you ask for prayer, a leader of the fellowship reads your request first and brings it to prayer. You choose who may pray: the leaders only, or the whole fellowship too, in which case members see the request but never your name or how to reach you. You need not give an email address.

If you offer to serve or ask to be connected, a leader of the fellowship will be in touch. This is not a membership sign-up; membership comes later, by invitation. Only the leaders who answer you see what you send. It is never published, and it will be deleted if you ask.

Plain Questions

Questions and answers

Is this a militia in the ordinary sense?

No. The name is spiritual and is taken from Scripture: “we wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12). It has nothing to do with arms or politics. Read what our name means.

Do I need an account to walk the museum?

No. Every hall is open to everyone, and nothing here asks for your name.

How do I join the fellowship?

Membership is by invitation. If you would like to be connected, send a short note and a leader of the fellowship will be in touch.

Who will see my prayer request?

A leader of the fellowship reads it first. If you choose “only the leaders”, it stays with them. If you let the whole fellowship pray, its members see the request, but never your name or how to reach you. It is never published. Ask us to pray.

Why the King James Bible?

It is the Bible of this museum’s founder and his church, and the English Bible whose story the Timeline tells. Every verse on these pages is quoted from it word for word and linked so that it can be checked. More on Scripture and the King James Version.

How can I check what I read here?

Every Scripture, citation and image licence is gathered in the Reading Room. “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, KJV).

I have found a mistake. What should I do?

Please tell us. Choose “Please contact me” on the connection form and describe it in the message. If it is wrong, it will be corrected.
